I found it recently, high in the mountains of Portugal.
Each morning, I woke at 6 a.m., long before the world around me stirred. The air was cool and still, a light mist draped gently across the valley below. I stood barefoot, breathing in the scent of pine and damp earth, watching the first swallows trace playful arcs in the sky. Their wings cut through the quiet like tiny brushstrokes of freedom.
As the sun began to rise behind the peaks, a soft golden light spread across the land and warmed my skin. In that moment, I realised how rarely we allow ourselves to simply be: to feel life unfold without rushing to fix, solve, or achieve anything.

But in the mountains, I could hear my own breath again. I could feel my heartbeat settling.
