When life redirects you, it’s usually toward your purpose.
If you’ve ever reached a point in life where everything looked right on paper – the salary, the title, the travel – but you felt a profound sense of disconnection and depletion inside, I understand that feeling.
For years, I lived it.
After the turbulence of 9/11, my stable career in the airline and hospitality industry collapsed almost overnight. To stay afloat, I transitioned into the demanding telecoms sector, joining Orange Business Services. I learned quickly, climbed steadily, and relocated to Egypt to lead complex projects and service delivery. On paper, it was the definition of success.
Inside, it felt like an exhaustion I couldn’t escape.
When the Egyptian Revolution erupted in 2011, I returned to the UK. Somewhere between the relentless pressure, the high-stakes pay, and the sheer fatigue, I hit a wall. What I called a “nervous breakthrough” forced me to finally stop, breathe, and listen to the voice I’d been ignoring.
The Walk That Changed Everything
Back home in my village on Madeira Island, I went for a pivotal walk with my dad. We passed a spot overlooking the sea and mountains – the very place where, as a child, I had dreamed of building a spa that captured the beauty of nature and the calm of our landscape.
In that moment, I remembered who I was meant to be.
I realised my purpose wasn’t to manage complex networks – it was to help humans heal and reconnect to their own.
That night, I started researching how to enter the beauty and wellness industry from scratch. The answer was simple but humbling: start again, learn, grow, and build something meaningful.
The Champions Who Shaped My Path
When I began my ITEC Level 2 and 3 training, my tutor, Sheral Griffin, saw something in me that I couldn’t yet see in myself. Her patience, encouragement, and belief laid the critical foundation for everything I am today.
From there, my journey was powered by mentorship and professional generosity:
Neelam Holmes and Kristina Theodoris introduced me to the artistry, precision, and confidence required to stand tall in a luxury London setting.
Krestyna Batty of Janssen Cosmetics became – and remains – a guiding light, constantly reminding me that potential is limitless when guided by purpose.
Laura Ferguson, CEO of The Light Salon, taught me the science and soul behind LED therapy, turning me into what she once called her “mini-expert.”
Kim Ford supported my professional evolution with wisdom, compassion, and the kind of mentorship that reminds you why you chose this path in the first place.
These remarkable professionals didn’t just train me – they were the champions who believed in my potential. They helped me stay when it would have been easier to leave, confirming that kindness, skill, and authenticity still have a vital place in this industry.
Breaking Stereotypes and Building Belonging
When I started, male therapists were rare in beauty and wellness spaces. I was determined to prove that empathy and clinical excellence know no gender.
Today, I’m proud to serve a diverse clientele – including gay men, gay women, and high-stakes heterosexual clients -who consistently tell me how vital it feels to be understood without judgment. I believe every person deserves a safe space where they can release pain, stress, and emotional weight, and where their therapist genuinely sees them.
Representation matters. Belonging matters. And I want to be part of shaping an industry that reflects both.
Becoming Part of the Change
Over time, my role evolved from therapist to educator, and from practitioner to advocate. I became a CIBTAC Examiner, a proud BABTAC member, and joined both the Acupuncture Association and the Acupuncture Regulation Authority, all in service of raising the standards, ethics, and education in our field.
I’ve worked with brands and clinics across the UK and beyond, from Cowshed Selfridges to Zemits UK Ltd, from creating treatment protocols in Saudi Arabia to mentoring new therapists at home.
But the real reward isn’t titles or travel.
It’s watching a client find lasting relief from chronic pain, or a student finally believe in their own ability.
My Philosophy: Healing Happens From Within
I believe true transformation begins the moment we stop reliving the past and start choosing the present. Whether it’s skin health, emotional wellbeing, or personal growth – healing always starts from within.
Science gives us the clinical proof. Energy work gives us the subtle connection. Together, they create transformational change that lasts.
That’s why my approach combines clinical expertise, microneedling, chemical peels, auricular acupuncture, Reiki, and advanced skin treatments – with compassion, listening, and trust.
Your skin, body, and energy all tell the same story; my work is to help them heal together.
Why I Choose to Stay
Even after years in this profession, I still feel like a student of life. I stay because mentors, some with decades more experience, continue to believe that this industry can evolve, grow, and rediscover its soul.
I stay because every client who chooses to heal reminds me that what we do matters.
And I stay because I want to be part of the change that makes others stay too.
If you’ve ever felt unsure about where you belong, or if you’ve lost faith in your ability to start again, I hope my story reminds you that it’s never too late to choose care, compassion, and connection.
