We often expect healing to be tidy — like ticking off a checklist or following a straight path to feeling “better.”
But in real life, it’s rarely that simple.
Over the years, I’ve worked with people carrying invisible weight. Stressed professionals. Burnt-out carers. Quietly overwhelmed parents. People who hold everything in… until their body starts to whisper — or scream — that something’s not right.
And more often than not, those whispers show up in the body before the mind catches up. Tight shoulders. Constant headaches. A jaw that won’t relax. A heaviness in the chest.
That’s why I believe healing isn’t just about technique or treatment — it’s about being seen. Being felt. Being held.
It Started with a Headache…
A client of mine — let’s call him David — came in complaining of persistent headaches and tension that wouldn’t shift. He booked in for a scalp and shoulder massage. Nothing fancy. Just something to help him “switch off.”
What unfolded in the treatment room was something else entirely.
As I worked gently into the muscle layers around his neck and shoulders, layering in Reiki energy healing with touch, something began to soften — not just in his body, but in his energy. He started breathing differently. Slower. Deeper. More present.
Then, partway through the treatment, he quietly said:
“I don’t think I’m doing the right thing with my life… I’ve been chasing the wrong job for years.”
And then the tears came.
He let go in a way he hadn’t allowed himself to before — not with friends, not with family. He didn’t need to explain everything.
He just needed to feel it. To let it out. And I was there to hold space, to remind him that it’s okay to unravel before we rebuild.
He left that day feeling lighter, not just physically — but emotionally. The headache didn’t come back. And within a few months, he’d made a shift in his work life that felt more aligned and honest.
The Body Holds What the Mind Tries to Bury
Massage is powerful. But when you combine it with Reiki energy healing — the results can feel like medicine for the soul. You’re not just melting knots. You’re inviting the nervous system to rest, the heart to speak, and emotions to surface in a safe, supported way.
Sometimes it’s tears.
Sometimes it’s laughter.
Sometimes it’s silence.
But it’s always truth.
So, What Does Progress Actually Look Like?
It’s not a straight line.
It’s a feeling. A shift. A sense of “Oh… I didn’t realise I needed that.”
Progress might look like:
Finally sleeping through the night
Feeling safe enough to cry
Loosening your grip on perfection
Saying “no” without guilt
Or simply walking out of your session with a deep, grounded breath
